I’m sure many of you are like me, this Covid-19 crisis has you concerned. We worry about getting the virus, or an elderly family member getting it, or our financial future. The news media does not help in the fight against fear. We seek to find comfort in these uncertain times. We may not know the outcome, and there are going to bad times, but one thing is for sure God is in control. Below I would like to share with you a story of hope!
Josie’s Story
Josie was 16 and pregnant, she wasn’t sure what she wanted to do. She had an appointment for an abortion and the father of the baby couldn’t care less about what happened. It’s so hard making a decision alone when you know either choice has consequences. She knew she could have easily chosen abortion and all her problems would be over. However, she had a friend that chose abortion and she was having a really hard time. She didn’t feel like she should make this decision on her own. She talked to her mother and they decided to make an appointment at Hope First.
She came to the appointment kind of expecting to be judged for being 16 and pregnant. Much to her surprise, her client advocate just listened with understanding. Nobody tried to talk her out of her decision, they simply talked with her about her fears. They gave her information on all options, gave her resources, and an ultrasound.
Josie and her mother left there that day feeling encouraged! What Josie thought was such a tragedy, she was starting to see as an opportunity. She could see herself being a mother and a good mother at that. Life wasn’t like she planned it, but she started to believe it could be way more than she hoped.
Josie was glad she came to the pregnancy center first. She still has a long way to go, but Hope First will be there every step of the way. She will take parenting classes and earn points so she can buy much-needed baby items. I’m blessed to be able to say that Hope First was able to help Josie in the middle of this Covid-19 crisis. We love people, we love helping our community, and we will be here for you!
