Gardening can teach us life lessons

This summer I tried my hand at gardening, both of my grandmas were avid gardeners. I remember working hot summer days planting, watering, hoeing, and finally picking.  However, I perhaps forgot some of the lessons on gardening and I should have paid closer attention in order to successfully grow my own.

I learned a lot of life lessons through this little patio garden of mine.  I watered it every day, gave it miracle grow, and continually watched for the fruit to appear.  I began to grow impatient, thinking I must have done something wrong.  I started to believe I had wasted my time, but then it happened, it started to grow and bloom.  I was happy again, I just did not have enough patience.  As soon as i got through that hurdle another problem arose.  Oh, of course my plants started to wither and again my disappointment took over.  So much so this time I almost decided to give up.

This is all too often how life is. We don’t learn when we need to and when we are in the situation we feel very inferior to the task. We jump in and find out it is not as easy as it appeared when we watched others do it.  When challenges come we might feel like giving up.  Then of course, we will miss the rewards that come from the struggle. I gave some thought to my garden situation and I decided to stick it out, I did some research and figured out my problem.  Now, I am enjoying the fruits of my labor. This situation is certainly not one of the biggest problems I have ever faced in life, but it sure helped me understand myself.

If you are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy you might be feeling very overwhelmed by the challenge ahead of you.  Trust me there will be ups and downs along the way.  You don’t have to go at it alone.  We are here to walk with you through this journey.  There will be struggles, but you can figure it out just like I did.  You will never regret the rewards life will bring because you did.
